On July 25, 2016, members of the Lewis County Sheriff's Office were called to a suspicious person report near Maywood, Missouri.  After conducting a two-day investigation, Christopher A. Smith, age 34, of Maywood, Missouri was taken into custody for burglary and stealing.  Mr. Smith and an accomplice are alleged to have unlawfully entered into a tornado damaged residence located West of Maywood.  Mr. Smith was found in possession of a kayak and copper.

Mr. Smith remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail in lieu of a $20,000.00 cash only bond.
