Frequently Asked Questions Message From The Sheriff

Drug and Crime Trends

Currently, the Sheriff's Office investigates numerous drug violations.  We are particularly concerned about the abuse of prescription medications provided by licensed physicians.  This includes the abuse of pain medications like hydrocodone along with attention deficit medications such as Adderall.  These types of medications, when abused, lead to numerous problems for the user.  This includes inability to function at home, work or with family.

Cyber crime continues to be a daily problem for Lewis County residents as well.  This includes unwanted phone scams, mail scams and email scams.  Please remember to never give any of your personal information over the phone or through the internet unless you have verified the recipient.  Generally, these scammers are from other countries who are using computers or other devices to appear as if they are legitimate.  Some will attempt to bully or scare the intended victim into sending money.

If you are concerned someone is attempting to scam you or a family member please call the Sheriff's Office to seek verification.  A deputy will be happy to sort the problem out.
