On March 21, 2016, Highland Elementary sixth grade students celebrated their graduation from the DARE program. Deputy Corey Bennett, DARE Instructor/School Resource Deputy presented 69 students with their DARE certificates. Three students were awarded a $50 gift card for writing a winning DARE essay. The winners were Sidney Casebier, daughter of Jeff and Diane Casebier; Aiden Tryon, son of James and Kim Tryon and Chloe Schlueter, daughter of Billie Schlueter.
Since 1997, the Sheriff's Office has provided drug abuse education for the sixth grade students while providing a positive experience with members of the Sheriff's office.
