Shooting Incident Involving Pursuit in Maywood, Missouri Under Investigation
Maywood, MO - At approximately 4:00 a.m. on November 30th, 2024, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office responded to a call in Maywood, Missouri, regarding a suspicious person attempting to enter a vehicle in the victim's driveway. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the reporting party had stepped outside after noticing the suspicious activity. The suspect(s) fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV as the home owner made their presence known.
The reporting party, witnessing the suspects' escape, proceeded to follow the vehicle as it fled into Marion County. As the pursuit neared the West Quincy area, the suspects fired a weapon toward the reporting party's vehicle and striking it. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the incident.
The suspect vehicle was later discovered to have been stolen out of Quincy, Illinois. The Lewis County Sheriff's Office, along with members of the Marion County Sheriff's Department and the Quincy Police Department, are continuing to investigate the incident and attempting to locate the suspects.
This dangerous behavior puts the public at risk, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice. We urge anyone with information to come forward.
