Subject: Domestic Assault and Drug Arrest

Date: November 24, 2024

Incident Details:

            Arrested Individual:  Tayler D. Burgess, age 27, Hannibal, Missouri         

            Arrest Date: November 24, 2024

            Arrest Location: Canton, Missouri

            Arrest Agency: Lewis County Sheriff's Office

            Charges: Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree, a class E felony, Possession of Controlled Substance, (methamphetamine), a class D felony, No valid license, a class D misdemeanor, Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a class D misdemeanor

Incident Background:

            Date of Incident: November 24, 2024

            Location: Ewing, Lewis County, Missouri

            Details:  On November 24, 2024, a witness reported seeing a male subject assaulting a female inside their vehicle at the Ayerco Truck Stop in Canton, Missouri. The vehicle left the scene.  The Lewis County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the area and located the suspect and victim in the same vehicle in downtown Canton.  After further investigation, Tayler D. Burgess was arrested for domestic assault because he had physically assaulted the victim.  Law enforcement also located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. 

On November 25, 2024, Lewis County Prosecutor Chelsea Fellinger filed formal charges in the Lewis County Associate Court, that included the above-mentioned charges. 

The Honorable Corey Moon, Associate Judge, issued a warrant which included the above charges. 

Mr. Burgess remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail.
