On May 15, 2024 the Honorable Matthew Wilson, Circuit  Judge, conducted court proceedings in Lewis County.  Prosecuting attorney, Chelsea Fellinger, represented the State of Missouri on several criminal matters.  This report only includes criminal matters where formal disposition was entered.

LaCrisha M. Wagy, age 41, of La Grange, Missouri, pled guilty to one count of stealing, a class D felony, punishable by up to four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.  Mrs. Wagy, the former Executive Director of Heartland Resources, admitted to stealing Heartland Resource funds for personal reasons.  This included paying her cell phone bills, utility bills, making purchases at local businesses and Amazon purchases using the Heartland Resources company credit card.  Heartland Resources is a nonprofit organization that serves seniors in many ways including Meals on Wheels and in home care.

Wagy was sentenced to a suspended imposition of sentence and placed on five years supervise probation with the Missouri Division of Probation and Parole. She is required to serve shock and incarceration, pay court costs and meet other probation requirements. Wagy was also required to pay full restitution, in the amount of $6546.14, to Heartland Resources.  This amount has already been paid.

This matter was the result of a lengthy investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Office and Prosecutor's Office.

Butler was sentenced to five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, and was granted a suspended execution of sentence (SES).  He was placed on supervised probation with the Missouri Division of Probation and Parole.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office assisted the La Grange Police Department with this investigation. Butler was found to be in possession of a firearm as a felon during a routine traffic stop that occurred in La Grange in 2023.
