On May 3, 2023, a Lewis County Sheriff's Office deputy conducted a traffic stop for speed in rural Lewis County. Upon contact, the driver was identified as Leslie A. Kirby, age 41, of Canton, Missouri. After further investigation, it was determined Miss Kirby's Illinois driver's license had been revoked and she was placed under arrest and transported to the Lewis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges. Upon arrival at the jail, Miss Kirby was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
An arrest warrant was sought through Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney Chelsea Fellinger. The Honorable Corey Moon issued a warrant alleging one count of Possession of Controlled Substance, a class D felony.
Miss Kirby has previous convictions in Adams County, Illinois for both Manufacturing and/or Delivering Controlled Substance and Possession of Controlled Substance, Heroin. She has a prior conviction in Hancock County, Illinois for Manufacturing/Delivering Controlled Substance.
Miss Kirby remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash only bond.
