On Thursday, December 14, 2023, the Circuit Court Law Day for Lewis County was held by the Honorable Matthew Wilson. Three subjects were sentenced to the Department of Corrections. They are as follows:
Henry J Schwartz, age 60, of Canton, Missouri was sentenced to four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. A registered sex offender, Schwartz was on probation after pleading guilty in 2019 to one count of being present within 500 feet of a park. Judge Wilson revoked his probation after hearing arguments presented by the Prosecutor and the defense.

Kyle A Donaubauer, age 32 of Kirksville, Missouri was sentenced to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections with an execution of sentence suspended. Mr. Donaubauer is required to serve at least 120 days of shock incarceration. If successful, he will be authorized for release and placed on five years supervised probation. Mr. Donaubauer previously pled guilty to one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance, methamphetamine.

Charles W Hanley, age 33, of Canton, Missouri was sentenced to four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections after being found guilty of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. This charge stemmed from an incident that occurred earlier this year. Mr. Hanley failed to follow the law regarding sex offender registration requirements.
