Narcotics Arrest

On October 24,2022, John R Breault, age 37, of Quincy, Illinois was formally charged with several felony counts by Assistant Prosecutor Chelsea Fellinger in relation to an ongoing drug investigation conducted by the Sheriff's Office and the NEMO Drug Task Force.  Breault was previously taken into custody on October 4, 2022 after deputies and Task Force agents conducted a traffic stop on State Highway 6 near the Marion and Lewis county line.  Breault was arrested for an outstanding parole warrant.  Breault, who was a passenger in the vehicle, attempted to flee and had to be physically taken out of the vehicle after kicking an officer and trying to start the vehicle.  A deputy had to break the passenger side glass and take Mr. Breault into custody.  Several illegal drug related items were found in his possession.  Members of the Sheriff's Office then sought and received a search warrant for the vehicle.  During a search of the vehicle, over 400 grams of methamphetamine, over 280 morphine pills and a firearm were located.

The formal charges include one count each of  Trafficking Drugs - 2nd degree, a class B felony; Possession of Controlled Substance - namely methamphetamine, a class D felony; Resisting/Interfering with Arrest for a Felony, a class E felony and Unlawful Use/Possession of a Weapon and a Felony Controlled Substance, a class E felony.

Mr. Breault remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail in lieu of a $100,000.00 cash only bond.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Marion County Sheriff's Office.
