On October 5, 2021, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office arrested Richard L Elder, Jr, age 27, of Kirksville, Missouri on  a Lewis County warrant for 2 counts of tampering with a motor vehicle-1st degree, a class D felony and one count of stealing, a class D misdemeanor.

This arrest stems from an investigation into the theft of multiple items from a residence in rural La Belle, Missouri during the early months of 2021.  Mr. Elder is alleged to have stolen catalytic converters from the victim.

Mr. Elder remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail in lieu of a $20000 cash only bond.

This investigation continues and further arrests are pending.
