On August 25, 2021, 7:00pm, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol were called to a report of domestic violence on Clow Street in Ewing, Missouri. Upon arrival, the victim reported her husband had thrown things at her and shoved her down. The husband, identified as Ronnie L Atteberry, age 79, of Ewing, had left the residence and then returned. When the deputy walked toward him to speak with him, he fled.
Mr. Atteberry led law enforcement on a low speed pursuit for over an hour. During the course of this pursuit, Mr. Atteberry turned his vehicle around in a private drive. He then struck a Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle and disabled it. He also left the scene.
Members of the Lewis County Sheriff's Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol continued to search for Mr. Atteberry and located him after he returned home. He was taken into custody at approximately 11:55 p.m.
On August 26, 2021, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Chelsea Fellinger filed formal charges and a warrant was sought. Associate Judge Corey Moon issued a warrant for Resisting Arrest/Detention, Stop by Fleeing - Creating a Substantial Risk of Serious Injury/Death to any Person, a class E felony and for Assault - 2nd Degree of a law enforcement officer, a class B felony.
He remains incarcerated in lieu of a $50,000 cash only bond.
