On August 24, 2021 Deputy Jason Slater and Deputy Steve Battaglia were patrolling in rural Lewis county North of La Belle.  This was in response to citizen complaints about illegal driving. 

While on patrol, Deputy Slater observed Bryan E. Wurtzberger, age53, of La Belle, operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.  Mr. Wurtzberger attempted to flee and drove into a field entrance.  Deputy Slater and Deputy Battaglia were able to apprehend Mr. Wurtzberger at the scene. 

Wurtzberger had previously been arrested on July 28, 2021 for DWI and possession of methamphetamine.  He had been released on August 2, 2021 after posting a $25,000 cash bond. 

Mr Wurtzberger has been formerly charged with one count of no valid license, a class A misdemeanor, and one count of resisting/interfering with arrest, detention or stop, a class A misdemeanor.

He remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail on a no bond warrant issued by the Honorable Corey R. Moon.
