On May 24, 2021, the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a suspicious person at Johnnie's Station in Ewing, Missouri.  Upon arrival, deputies discovered Nicholas Colt Carper, age 28, of rural Ewing.  Mr. Carper appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and a subsequent investigation led to his arrest for possession of marijuana and a controlled substance identified as Alprazolam.  A small child was taken into protective custody and given to a relative. 

Carper was formally charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony and released on a $5000 bond with 10% cash allowed.
