Huckaby Pleads Quilty

On January 9, 2020 Jesse L. Huckaby, age 44, appeared before Judge Russell E. Steele, and pled guilty to two counts of attempted statutory rape, both class E felonies. Pursuant to a plea agreement, Mr. Huckaby was sentenced to three years in prison on both counts and he is required to serve them consecutively. Mr. Huckaby also had his probation revoked from a prior methamphetamine case and he received a six year sentence.

This is the result of an investigation conducted on October 6, 2018. The Sheriff's Office received a report from a concerned parent that Mr. Huckaby was texting two female juveniles from Ewing. He was sending sexually explicit texts and wanted to meet the juveniles for sexual purposes. Two deputies then posed as the females and Mr. Huckaby asked to meet with them in the Ewing cemetery to have sexual relations. Shortly after midnight on October 7, 2018 Mr. Huckaby drove into the Ewing cemetery to meet the juvenile females. Instead, he was arrested and taken into custody for attempting to have sexual intercourse. Mr. Huckaby also had sexual paraphernalia in the truck as well.

Sergeant Devon Willis and Deputy Jason Slater are commended for their quick thinking and determined investigation. Through their efforts they successfully took Mr. Huckaby into custody and most likely prevented further abuse of other children. Special thanks to Assistant Prosecutor Chelsea Hoffman for her assistance as well.

It should be noted Mr. Huckaby on October 4th, 2018, Mr. Huckaby had been placed on five years probation for possession of methamphetamine. Two days later he was arrested again.
