On May 26, 2019, members of the Lewis County Sheriff's Office were called to a traffic crash on US Highway 61 north of Canton, Missouri.  While investigating the traffic crash, drug paraphernalia was located in the 2008 Jeep.  The occupants of the vehicle, identified as Steven J McIntosh, age 36, of Evansville, Indiana and Krystal L. Thornton, age 34, of Henderson, Kentucky were both arrested for possession of a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, a class D felony.

Both were lodged in the Lewis County Jail and were released on a personal surety bond on May 28, 2019.
