On February 2, 2016 members of the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a Lewistown man found deceased in Lewistown, Missouri.  At approximately 3:50 p.m. a family member found the body of James C. Miller, age 35, of 110 West Canton Street, Lewistown, Missouri.  Upon further investigation, preliminary findings indicate Mr. Miller died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound.  Lewis County Coroner Larry Arnold pronounced Mr. Miller deceased at 4:50 p.m.  Preliminary findings of the Boone Callaway County Medical Examiner's Office indicate that Mr. Miller died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound.  No foul play is suspected.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, NEMO Drug Task Force, Lewis County Ambulance District, and the Western Lewis County Fire Protection District.
