On December 29, 2018, members of the Lewis County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance in La Belle, Missouri.  After investigation, Derek D. Sayres, age 38, of Edina, Missouri was arrested and subsequently charged with one count of domestic assault in the second degree, a class D felony.  Sayres is alleged to have assaulted a female victim by striking her about the head and also breaking her cell phone.

Sayres remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash only bond.
