On October 30, 2017, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office arrested Michael R. Manley, age 21, of Canton, Missouri on one count of Abuse or Neglect of a Child, a class D felony.  Members of the Sheriff's Office and the Canton Police Department responded to a disturbance at the Westport Apartments located outside of Canton.  Upon further investigation, the deputy learned Manley had physically assaulted an 8 year old female.  Manley, who had fled the scene, was apprehended in Canton by members of the Sheriff's Office and the Canton Police Department.

Mr. Manley remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash only bond.
