Traffic Safety Report

Two days of bad weather this week have led to several traffic crashes and slide offs throughout Lewis County.  On Monday, December 28th, Dennis Walker, of Apple Valley, Minnesota was traveling northbound on US 61 when his vehicle hit water over the roadway causing it to leave the roadway.  The 2006 Honda Element sustained moderate damage after striking the support post of the MODOT LaGrange Route C exit sign located approximately one mile north of State Highway B.  There were no injuries.

Members of the Sheriff's Office also responded to a vehicle rollover outside of Lewistown and a slide off near the fairgrounds and a traffic crash on US 61.  No injuries were reported.

On December 30, 2015 members of the Sheriff's Office responded to three slide offs on or near US 61.  No injuries were reported and are reminded to reduce speed during times of winter weather.  While the roadway may appear to be clear it is still treacherous.  Motorists are also advised to move over for emergency personnel who are working traffic crashes.
