Subject: Weapons Offense Arrest

Incident Details:

            Arrested Individual: Travon J. Hegler-Wright, age 20, of Indianapolis, Indiana

            Arrest Date: September 27, 2024

            Arrest Location: Quincy University, Quincy, Illinois

            Arrest Agency: Quincy Police Department, at the request of the Lewis County Sheriff's Office

            Charge: Unlawful use of a weapon, (exhibiting), a class E felony

Incident Background:

            Date of Incident: April 6, 2024

            Location: Culver Stockton College, Canton, Lewis County, Missouri

            Time: A few minutes after 12:00 a.m.

            Details: Members of the Lewis County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of firearms being brandished at a large fraternity party on campus.  Upon arrival law enforcement observed several hundred people screaming and running in all directions.  Upon further investigation, deputies learned there had been an altercation between several Culver Stockton Students and three suspects believed to be Quincy University students.  One of the suspects was alleged to have displayed a weapon in a threatening manner and then fled the area.  The weapon was described as an automatic weapon with an extended clip.  Law enforcement attempted to locate the suspects but it was determined they had fled the area.  Over the course of the next week numerous interviews were conducted with several witnesses in Missouri and in Illinois.  On April 10, 2024, the Quincy Police Department recovered the suspect weapon, identified as a Radical Firearms RF-15, .223 caliber weapon, from Quincy University.  Over the next several weeks the investigation continued and led to the Sheriff's Office seeking formal charges against Travon J. Hegler-Wright.

On September 19, 2024, Lewis County Prosecutor Chelsea Fellinger, filed a felony complaint alleged Mr. Hegler-Wright had committed the class E felony of unlawful use of a weapon, in that he knowingly exhibited the weapon in an angry or threatening manner.

On September 24, 2024, the Honorable Corey Moon, Lewis County Associate Judge, issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Hegler-Wright. 

On September 27, 2024, Mr. Hegler-Wright was taken into custody by the Quincy Police Department and transported to the Adams County Jail. 

Mr. Hegler-Wright posted a $5,000.00 cash only bond and was released.  His next scheduled court appearance is November 18, 2024 in Monticello, Missouri.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted in this investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Quincy Police Department, Adams County Sheriff's Department, Culver Stockton Campus Safety and the Quincy University Campus Safety.
