On January 10, 2019, at approximately 8:00 a.m., a Lewis County Deputy made a routine traffic stop in Canton, Missouri for a registration violation. While investigating the matter the deputy discovered a controlled substance in the vehicle and arrested the driver. The driver, David M. Handley, age 64, of Canton, Missouri was arrested on one count of possession of controlled substance, a class C felony, namely methamphetamine. Handley is also facing drug charges in Adams County, Illinois and had been released on bond. Handley remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail in lieu of $10,000.00 cash only bond. The Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted with this investigation.
