IRS SCAM ALERT

Lewis County residents are once again receiving telephone calls from scammers posing as IRS agents.  The scammer attempts to intimidate the resident by stating there will be a warrant for their arrest for failure to pay back taxes.  The IRS does not conduct business in this fashion and will not threaten arrest by local law enforcement.  Residents should just hang up the phone and never give out any personal information. 

Residents are also asked to remind elderly loved ones of this information.  Senior Citizens are easily conned into providing information and/or sending money.
