Fraud Alert !!!

Several Lewis County residents have been contacted by telephone over the past few days by scammers.  Scam artists posing as the IRS are contacting local residents attempting to get payment for back taxes.  In some cases the scam artists attempts to convince the person the local police or Sheriff's Office will come and arrest them for failure to pay. 

Residents are reminded to never give personal information over the phone.   Residents should just advise the caller that they are going to hang up and contact the local police or Sheriff's Office.   Then contact local law enforcement to get reassurance.
