Details: On March 20, 2025, the Lewis County Sheriff's Office received a crime tip alleging registered offender, Charles Hanley, was violating the sex offender registration law.  It was alleged he had been seen in a vehicle in the "pickup" line at the Canton RV School District.

Formal charges were then sought through the Lewis County Prosecutor, Chelsea Fellinger, for several violations.  Hanley was charged with two counts of failing to register as required as a sex offender, (unclassified felonies), and one count of sex offender being present within 500 feet of a school, a class A misdemeanor.

The Honorable Corey Moon, Associate Judge, then issued a warrant for the arrest of Mr. Hanley.
