On August 02, 2024, Lewis County deputies were called to a property in rural Canton, Missouri for a suspicious vehicle.  While at the property, a vehicle belonging to John R Hager, age 38, of La Grange, Missouri was located behind some hay bales.  While deputies were searching the area, a person moved the car and then fled the area on foot.

On August 10, 2024, Mr. Hager came to the Sheriff's Office to provide a statement.  While at the Sheriff's Office, Mr. Hager did admit to attempting to steal items from the property.  Mr. Hager was then arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges.

An arrest warrant was sought through Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney Chelsea Fellinger.  The Honorable Corey Moon issued a warrant alleging one count of Burglary-2nd Degree, a class D felony and one count Resisting/Interfering with Arrest for a Felony, a class E felony.

Mr. Hager remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash only bond.
