Update regarding ADM damaged grain bin. At 12:55 a.m. the bin collapsed causing a power outage to sections of LaBelle. The bin completely collapsed onto itself and corn is across 7th Street but there is no damage to surrounding homes. A few homes had been evacuated prior to the collapse. We thank those folks for their cooperation.
Ameren has been working to restore power to those effected with most restored at this time.
State Highway 6 has been reopened. However, citizens are asked to stay away from the area including ADM and MFA properties. Please do not drive on State Street near the area as well.
The primary concern at this time is a standing tower that is unstable. ADM is assessing the damage at this time. Law enforcement will be on scene to keep traffic to a minimum
04/14/2020: Members of the sheriffs office, MSHP, fire department and emergency management are currently at ADM in LaBelle, Missouri.
At approximately 2:45 p.m. ADM contacted law enforcement to assist with traffic control on Seventh Street which runs between the MFA and ADM facilities. ADM discovered a grain bin that had a small buckle near the bottom.
After assessing the situation ADM is going to begin to empty the bin throughout the night. All citizens are asked to stay away from the area while grain trucks are moving in and out.
Emergency personnel have spoken with ADM about the safety of citizens who live in close proximity to the area. We have been advised citizens do not need to evacuate at this time. If anything changes we will send someone to your door
